There are several styles of Galaxy S9 screen protectors available. Some are cheap films while others are expensive tempered glass. Some even use a UV light for the perfect installation. We’ve found some priced under $8, and others for $12, which is much cheaper than the $200 plus it will cost to replace a damaged display. Highly reputable brands or UV curing install kits cost upwards of $50.
1. WhiteStone Dome Tempered Glass (UV Install)
The first screen protector we'll recommend for the Galaxy S9 is the impressive WhiteStone Dome Glass kit. This isn't for the faint at heart, and it's pretty expensive, but it's worth it to protect your $800 smartphone. WhiteStone uses a special liquid installation process where you manually install the screen protector, then use a UV Dome Light machine to "cure" the liquid. This provides the absolute best screen protection experience for curved devices like the S8 and S8. The video above is a review of their product for the Galaxy S8. It's not permanent and can be removed if necessary, so don't worry about that. Basically, where most glass protectors don't fit right or have gaps on the screen where touch sensitivity fails, this one won't. The liquid fills in the entire area, then curves the glass to the screen. These typically run around $60 but are often on sale for $40, which is still less than a ZAGG InvisibleShield. 2. TechArmor Ballistic Glass - Price: $13
I went through about 5 screen protectors on my Galaxy S8+ until I tried TechArmor. It's the first one that fit perfectly with my case and didn't have any gaps in the screen. I still have it on my phone today. As a result, our next recommendation is the new Galaxy S9 TechArmor Ballistic 3D Curved glass. This full-screen tempered and reinforced glass scores a 9H on the hardness scale for "reinforced" glass. This fully covers the entire screen, except for a few sensors at the top. It's color-matched for the bottom bezel so you won't have any lips or edges anywhere, and it's curved to match the Galaxy S9 screen. Tempered Glass screen protectors are durable glass designed to break, instead of your screen, in case of an accident. They're pretty scratch-proof too, which is nice.
3. Spigen NeoFlex Film (2-Pack) - Price: $9
Another option for Galaxy S9 protect is the Spigen NeoFlex film. This isn't a tempered glass screen protector, but a durable film, and that's fine. If you've had trouble with tempered glass on curved screens, you probably don't trust too many. If that's the case, you can't go wrong with something from Spigen. Spigen's NeoFlex film is a military-grade 3M film that's extremely durable. They recommend installing it with the case already on your phone. That way it fits perfectly. This film won't have any weird textures, no rainbow effects, and won't discolor or yellow over time. The wet installation method ensures you won't have any bubbles on the screen once you're done either, so that's a plus. Oh, and if you run into problems you get two, so you can try again. Otherwise, give the second protector to a friend, family member, or save it as a backup.
4. IQShield LiquidSkin 2-Pack - Price: $8
A lot of screen protectors for the Galaxy S8 didn't work very well, and were eventually removed from Amazon or online shops. One that didn't have that problem was IQShield. This company uses a unique wet-application with its "smart film" to ensure the best fit for your Galaxy S9 display. It's not tempered glass, but that means you'll get a perfect installation and plenty of protection without breaking the bank. You'll get a proprietary LiquidSkin screen protector film, installation tray, lint cloth, and a squeegee to get rid of bubbles. Then, if anything goes wrong the kit comes with two so you have a backup. This is one of the highest rated screen protectors for the Galaxy S8, so we're confident recommending it for the Galaxy S9.
5. Caseology Tempered Glass - Price: $13
Next, we're recommending the Caseology Tempered Glass Screen protector kit for the Galaxy S9. While they make great cases, the reason this made our list is because of the easy installation tray. No one likes putting on screen protectors, and half the time we mess up anyways, right? With Caseology, you'll get a dead simple easy installation tray that perfectly aligns your Galaxy S9 tempered glass screen protector. Pull off the protective film, line it up, and drop it in place. Then use the included squeegee to get rid of any bubbles. Each one of its protectors work great with cases, which means the edges are just a tiny bit short so a case doesn't pull it up and ruin your screen protector. Tech Armor is a pretty famous case and screen protector maker, all thanks to its sturdy offerings and the Galaxy S9 Ballistic Glass screen protector is no different. The Ballistic Glass screen protector is made of highest grade Japanese Asahi glass, which is said to be able to abosrb any drops, no matter how extreme. Apart from the extreme hardness, the screen protector is full coverage and yes, like most other screen guards on the list, the Tech Armor screen protector protects the curves of the S9, thanks to its heat bending technology.
7. LK Film Screen Protector - Price: $9
The only reason I’m adding this particular screen protector to the list is: it comes in a 3-pack for a price of just $7.99. That is insanely cheap given that it’s case-friendly, offers full-screen coverage including the bezels, and things are topped off with a lifetime warranty. All for just eight bucks!
8. Olixar Film Screen Protector - Price: $10
The Olixar screen protector may not be made of tempered glass, but its fully equipped to keep your Galaxy S9 scratch-free. It's thin non-intrusive protection preserves the clarity and touch-responsiveness of your Galaxy S9. You will have to smooth out air bubbles with an application card (included) when you first put it on though. The Olixar screen protector comes in a pack of two and with a screen cleaning cloth. S9 Plus owners can find this protector too for £6.99 or US$8.49.
9. MoKo Glass Protector - Price: $11
MoKo's screen protector is a great option for those seeking protection on a budget. It comes with the lifetime warranty of some of the premium option on this list, but at a reasonable price. The tempered glass protector is only 0.33mm thick, has a hardness rating of 9H and also hugs the contours of the Galaxy S9. MoKo also promises 99.9 percent transparency and a fully smear-free experience. If you do use this protector with a case, MoKo suggests avoiding anything too tight-fitting as it may cause bulging along the edge of the Galaxy S9. MoKo also has a S9 Plus version available for £18.99/US$69.99 though it's massively discounted at the moment to £8.59/US$9.99, respectively.
10. ESR Tempered Glass Screen Protector - Price: $12
This screen protector from ESR can resist up to 11 pounds of of force, is case friendly, and costs less than £10. You can expect scratch and shatter protection, as well as curved edge-to-edge protection – though there is enough space around the sides if you want to buy an additional case. Like some of the other protectors on this list, it promises bubble-free installation, while staying smudge-resistant and sensitive to touch. Our only qualm is that ESR only offers a 180-day refund policy – unlike some of the other brands on this list that offer lifetime warranties – but we hope that's just because you won't need it. The S9 Plus version can be found on Amazon for £9.99/US$10.99.
